Colors Fine Arts Center, Inc. offers a complete music curriculum for all ages and abilities.  We are a Musikgarten certified studio for parent/child classes. We offer private lessons on piano, violin, voice, guitar and woodwinds and we offer group beginner classes on keyboard and guitar.  Instructors strive to develop a student’s confidence through teaching proper technique, theory and performance.

MUSIKGARTEN is a national music and movement program developed by early childhood education specialists to enhance children’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive development.  Children attend sessions with parents or caregivers until the age of 3.  Class size is 3 to 10 children.

Children and parents new to Musikgarten are welcome to preview a class at no charge to experience the curriculum.

Family Music for Babies (Ages 5 – 15 months)
Musical play through songs and patterns are introduced through movement, touch and sound exploration. Parents join their babies for this weekly 30 minute class, which includes bouncing and rocking songs. Scarves, rattles and jingles are some of the instruments the babies will use in class.
Family Music (Ages 15 – 36 months)
This class engages the curious toddler through songs, musical patterns and the introduction to new instruments. Parents join children for this weekly 30 minute class, which includes circle dances, rocking songs, listening games and much more! Rhythm sticks, rattles, drums and scarves are some instruments which the children use in class for music making.
Young Cycle of the Seasons (Ages 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 years)
This class is for the more independent child, who may enjoy a smaller class made up of only children. This beginning pre school music class introduces concepts through sound and visual connections. Simple songs, rhythm patterns and musical games are included in this 30 minute weekly class, which uses a variety of rhythm instruments. Parents or caregivers join the children for the last 5 minutes of class to share in the music making experience.
Cycle of the Seasons (Ages 3 1/2 - 5 years)
This class focuses more on small group music making, and develops more singing and pitch matching skills. Basic music concepts are introduced, while the child's creativity is enhanced through music and imagery. A variety of rhythm instruments are used in this weekly 45 minute class. Parents or caregivers join the children for the last 5 minutes of class to share in the music making experience.
KEYBOARD CLASSES
Color Keys Primer (Ages 4 - 5 1/2 years)
This keyboard class uses a pre-reading approach to develop strong listening skills as well as solid keyboard technique. Children enjoy the keyboard songs, musical games and writing book activities introduced weekly. This class meets weekly for 45 minutes, with parents attending the last 5 minutes of each class to help with practice at home. Students must have a keyboard or piano at home and need the help of an adult for consistent practice. Class size is 3-5 students.
Color Keys 1 (Ages 5 1/2 - 7 years)
This class introduces piano concepts to beginning readers and to students whose fine motor abilities are more developed. Note reading, strong rhythm skills and correct technique are emphasized in this course. This class meets weekly for 45 minutes, with parents attending the last 5 minutes of each class to help with practice at home. Students must have a keyboard or piano at home and need the help of an adult for consistent practice. Class size is 3-6 students.
Female Choral Development Class (4th - 9th graders)
This class teaches the skills to develop a solid choral foundation by introducing correct group technical skills. Students will be exposed to sightsinging, harmonization and ensemble presentation in this weekly 45 minute class. This class helps in the preparation of middle school and high school choral auditions. *Students must have an audition before enrolling in this class. Class size is 6 -20 students.
Rock Class
This class teaches basic group performance skills, and presents an overview of styles with a brief history. Students will be divided into groups based on skill level and age to work on specific songs. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to enhance their skills and enjoyment of music through ensemble playing. *Students must have had at least 1 year of private lessons on their instrument or must audition before enrolling in this class.
PRIVATE INSTRUCTION
Private instruction is offered in Piano, Voice, Violin, Guitar and Woodwinds.  Lessons are typically 30 minutes per week, but 45 or 60-minute lessons may be offered at the instructor’s discretion.  Each instructor uses his or her preferred teaching method, choosing to emphasize various styles or areas of musical study (i.e. sight reading, theory, ear training).  Enrollment is accepted year round.  Students interested in private lessons may schedule an interview to meet with an instructor prior to enrollment.
